An Overview of Aboriginal Education in NSW Diocesan Catholic Schools
There are 11 Diocesan Catholic Schools Authorities in NSW (commonly referred to as Catholic Education Offices or Catholic Schools Offices), which provide direct administrative and educational support to the schools in their Diocese. Across these 11 Dioceses there are over 580 schools - both Primar and Secondary.
There are also 45 Congregational schools located in NSW. These are administered by Religious Institutes of brothers, nuns and priests or by their agents. They may receive some support from Diocesan Offices.
Many attempts have been made to establish traditional Aboriginal boundaries and most of these studies have been in the contemporary setting. However, because of verbal traditions exact boundaries may never be known.
